Generosity

In a most unexpected, and remarkably generous way, Robert answered my prayer to God for help.

About twenty years ago I was searching for a piano to support the musical life in St. Saviours. The PCC had agreed to a change of instrument from the upright which had been there for a VERY long time….but sadly there wasn’t much financial enthusiasm to buy something that would be worthy of the beautiful space in which it would be housed.

Then one Sunday afternoon, out of the blue, Robert called me and asked how I was progressing on this project, and I ruefully explained the dilemma.  He listened and then quietly asked if the piano that he and Sue had bought for their late daughter would be suitable.  I was completely stunned knowing just how much this meant to him ….and so I asked for a few moments to pray before I could answer him.  In the quietness of trembling prayer I sensed he Lord whispering Ps. 33 to me and as I read the first verses I knew He was saying ‘Yes’.  And so it was, within 10 minutes, that I called Robert back and with a joyful heart, completely full of gratefulness, accepted his amazing offer.

The beautiful Grand Piano that has graced St. Saviours over these past years is thanks entirely to his, and Sue’s wonderful generosity and everyone will know just what that has meant to the musical life of Brockenhurst.  A rich variety of concerts has been supported by this lovely instrument …. and week by week our songs of praise have been sung accompanied by its beautiful sonorities, lifting our voices in worship of God.

THANK YOU Robert, from the bottom of my heart.
